Launched in August 2004 in Simi Valley, CA, a small suburb of Los Angeles, Down for the Count has been a key addition to the indie/underground scene. The band started out as an acoustic duo (Nathan Sirotta and Steve Cheung), but eventually evolved into a full 5-piece band. After going through a few lineup changes, the current lineup is : Nathan Sirotta – vocals, Steve Cheung – bass/vocals, Mike Thomas – drums, Anthony Weiss – guitar/vocals, , and Kyle Madero – guitar.

Despite its relative newness to the scene, Down for the Count, otherwise known as D4TC, is on its way to adamant success in the music world. Southern California is not an easy place to succeed in music, but D4TC challenges this theory by retaining a loyal following all throughout the greater Los Angeles area, and all over the country as well. At the ripe ages of 19 and 20, the band has several recordings under its belt – a 5 song demo CD recorded in August of 2004, a debut EP (History In The Making) which was released in May of 2005, and a debut LP entitled Broken Record Tactics, which was released on April 10th 2007. All of which the band has self released in US.

Since its release, History In The Making has remained in the top 100 best-sellers of all time at Smartpunk.com, one of the premier online distributors of underground music. Mind you, each release has been completely DIY – self financed, self produced, and self distributed. Not only does this band carry an impressive recording resume, but Down for the Count also has significant touring experience. In addition to 4 self booked west coast tours, the band has just finished its first national tour in the summer of ’06.

D4TC has also shared the stage with such acts as The Warriors, Self Against City, Houston Calls, Adelphi, Best Interest, Waking Ashland, National Product, and many more. You will rarely find a harder working band than this one. From passing out fliers at shows, hustling CDs at Warped Tour, to following bands on tour to just to meet new potential fans, this band has done it all. Music is all these boys were ever passionate about in life, and they will do whatever it takes just to get the right opportunity.

Despite being signed in Japan (Kick Rock Music) and the UK (Pep-Rock Records), the band is still looking to sign to an independent US label, the band continues to give 110% in order to succeed in a musical environment that has proven to be so unforgiving.
